Non-Binary Maid Reporting for Duty!

Mogumo is a cute but lonely non-binary high school student who just wants a few loving friends。 As someone who doesn’t identify as a boy or a girl, however, finding people who really understand can be a big challenge。 When fellow student Iwaoka Tetsu invites Mogumo to work at an untraditional maid café, Mogumo is hopeful that things are looking up。 Will they finally find friends to call their own―or just more misunderstanding?

Love it The idea for this manga was great and really good explaining people genders and how other one would feel if they are one or either。 The author did a good with this and I can't wait to see the next manga in the series。 Love it The idea for this manga was great and really good explaining people genders and how other one would feel if they are one or either。 The author did a good with this and I can't wait to see the next manga in the series。 。。。more

Love it!!I love this story to pieces。 I love how the main character has everyone learning more about NB people。 I also love how there is a trans adult and youth。 Like this story is so realistic and lovely。 I can’t wait to read the second volume。

This book really shows how difficult it is to be a trans person in a world that's so gendered。 Though all of the characters in the book were born assigned male and dress in female clothes to work in a specialty maid cafe, their stories are all very different。 The book delves into nuanced, in-depth explorations of the characters' gender orientation, and I felt a ton of sympathy for Mogumo, who's caught between a very painful struggle to be who they are while grappling with the limitations society This book really shows how difficult it is to be a trans person in a world that's so gendered。 Though all of the characters in the book were born assigned male and dress in female clothes to work in a specialty maid cafe, their stories are all very different。 The book delves into nuanced, in-depth explorations of the characters' gender orientation, and I felt a ton of sympathy for Mogumo, who's caught between a very painful struggle to be who they are while grappling with the limitations society places on them。 。。。more

this is so cute, there’s such a spectrum of identities portrayed and i think it’s done really well!!! i love seeing characters grow and discover themselves but i also appreciate that mogumo knows they aren’t a boy or girl and is very sure of themselves。 also the charter designs are just really cute hehe<3 i hope there is some somewhat easy romance soon and more interesting characters!!! (if there was lesbian rep i would die )

Welp, looks like I’m back into manga again and this book got me hook line and sinker! I ADORE Mogumo and I love that I get to see their story in a manga alongside so many other lgbt characters。 The representation in this book is so important in the nuance of our non-binary protagonist constantly being pulled in different directions to form into a societal expectation。 But I love how they honored that other characters had their own journeys to go on and also needed their needs and desires to be r Welp, looks like I’m back into manga again and this book got me hook line and sinker! very fucking heartfeltThe characters are diverse and really fleshed-out, and the plot handles queer topics and the theme of queer identity extremely well。I love it

From the premise, this manga seems right up my alley and fits in with a lot of the recent stuff I've been reading and reviewing and yearning for from manga for years。 I love this medium and stories where being queer isn't just a single picture and can be explored in a myriad of different ways。 So an exploratory story about a nonbinary main character trying to find their place in a café full of other queer characters and in the world as a whole sounds perfect! But I just couldn't get into it。Read From the premise, this manga seems right up my alley and fits in with a lot of the recent stuff I've been reading and reviewing and yearning for from manga for years。 I love this medium and stories where being queer isn't just a single picture and can be explored in a myriad of different ways。 So an exploratory story about a nonbinary main character trying to find their place in a café full of other queer characters and in the world as a whole sounds perfect! But I just couldn't get into it。Read the rest of my review on my blog Well。 Are They? The Bookish Life of Laura

This was really sweet, but I had a hard time getting into it because I found the pacing to be really off。 The dialogue was a little awkward too, although I can’t pinpoint why。 I’ll still continue with the series, but it won’t be a new favourite

I was hesitant about this one at first because the cover is。。。 a lot。 But was pleasantly surprised by the story, its heartfelt and explores gender in a pretty nuanced way。 I would definitely recommend for those looking for queer manga

Could have given it five stars but I dont like that Tetsu misgenders his sister so much。 Maybe it will play into a larger character arch but it just feels a bit off in the first volume。 Other than that its pretty good and I'm looking forward to reading the next one Could have given it five stars but I dont like that Tetsu misgenders his sister so much。 Maybe it will play into a larger character arch but it just feels a bit off in the first volume。 Other than that its pretty good and I'm looking forward to reading the next one 。。。more

This is by no means a series with perfect representation, but to have a new manga out with canon queer representation, especially focused on gender identities, is amazing nonetheless。 I'm definitely planning to read the rest as it comes out and can only hope that it improves as the story progresses。 This is by no means a series with perfect representation, but to have a new manga out with canon queer representation, especially focused on gender identities, is amazing nonetheless。 I'm definitely planning to read the rest as it comes out and can only hope that it improves as the story progresses。 。。。more

At the end of this manga, in the afterwards, we see a line that says Volume 2 will be when “the story kicks into high gear。” That’s an apt summary for Volume 1。 There’s nothing wrong with this volume: the storytelling and art are competent and effective。 It just has the feel that we’re going somewhere but haven’t gotten there yet。The series centers on Mogumo, who is a non-binary high school student who leans towards girls’ fashion。 While ‘non-binary’ is now a familiar term, explaining it, not to At the end of this manga, in the afterwards, we see a line that says Volume 2 will be when “the story kicks into high gear。” That’s an apt summary for Volume 1。 There’s nothing wrong with this volume: the storytelling and art are competent and effective。 It just has the feel that we’re going somewhere but haven’t gotten there yet。The series centers on Mogumo, who is a non-binary high school student who leans towards girls’ fashion。 While ‘non-binary’ is now a familiar term, explaining it, not to mention dramatizing it, is a heavy lift。 Volume 1 of “Love Me for Who I Am” spend time getting readers to understand it on a somewhat deeper level, and also to get us to empathize with both Mogumo and the rest of the characters, most of whom depart from gender expectations but all in slightly different ways。 It lays the groundwork for a better understanding of individuals who identify as non-binary, transgender, same-sex loving, and cross-dressers。It’s too soon to provide qualitative feedback on this title, but volume 1 is good enough to have me buying volume 2。 。。。more

My younger sibling actually got me started on this and I binged the first 3 in the series。 I loved this。 The author talks about the LGBTQ+ community through the characters by showing how everyone’s experience is different。 Honestly, this really hit home at some points personally so I’m really excited to keep reading。

aweee this was soo cute。 i definetly wasn't expecting to find a manga with a nonbinary main character, but i'm sooo happy that i did。 the story really explores gender and sexuality within the many characters that work at the cafe。 i can't wait for volume 2!note that there are some instances of misgendering, especially in the earlier chapters。 aweee this was soo cute。 i definetly wasn't expecting to find a manga with a nonbinary main character, but i'm sooo happy that i did。 the story really explores gender and sexuality within the many characters that work at the cafe。 i can't wait for volume 2!note that there are some instances of misgendering, especially in the earlier chapters。 。。。more

Love Me For Who I Am Vol。 15/5 starsOne of my favorite booktubers recommended this and I immediately picked it up。 It was such a beautiful dive into gender expression and finding yourself。 It really puts you into the mindset of so many different kinds of people and how it might feel to be in a body that you dont necessarily identify with。 I adored the characters and the angst, the innocence of it, and most of all the romance。 I cant wait to continue with this series。
